Loujain al-Hathloul Released from Prison in Saudi Arabia!

I was crying tears of joy yesterday when I heard that Loujain al-Hathloul has been released from prison! She is still not free, as she is not allowed to leave Saudi Arabia and her sentence was suspended, meaning the regime could send her back to prison. My hope is that she will be able to come to America one day, and tell her story.

Keep up with the cause by visiting the web site: https://www.loujainalhathloul.org/

I wrote the article below early in 2020 when was Loujain is still in prison.

My original challenge is stated below.

As the 2020 presidential election draws near, some Democrats and independents are once again urging the Green Party to only run in states where the election will not be close between the Republican and Democratic Party nominees. Some call this the ‘safe states’ strategy.

A recently published essay advocated for this approach.

The authors of the open letter linked above include high-profile Democrats like Norman Solomon, best-selling authors like Barbara Ehrenreich, and world-renowned academics like Noam Chomsky. I respect the letter’s signatories and their willingness to engage in discussion.

I considered addressing the letter directly, debating points of fact and opinion.

But then, I got a better idea.

Solomon and his co-authors may not agree with me on electoral strategy, but perhaps we can achieve something good together.

Lojain al-Hathloul is a Saudi Arabian women’s rights activist currently in prison in that country. She is likely being tortured as I type this.

Hillary Clinton was the presidential candidate that Solomon et al. insist Greens in swing states should have voted for in the 2016 general election.

Though she did not become President of the United States, Hillary Clinton remains one of the most powerful people on the planet. She served as Secretary of State, and has many very powerful friends around the world. Given her extremely close connections to the members of the global elite, HRC may even be able to free Loujain with a single phone call.

Therefore, I hereby challenge Hillary Rodham Clinton to do just that. Clinton must insist that al-Hathloul be freed immediately. The aforementioned phone call or calls can be private, but a public demand must also be made. HRC shall demand Loujain’s freedom in the form of video, audio, or written essay that is freely and widely available.

Will Hillary accept the challenge?

I sincerely hope that she does, and that Loujain al-Hathloul walks free. If HRC refuses, it will prove that she who aimed to “shatter that highest, hardest glass ceiling” would rather an innocent woman be tortured than risk embarrassing her elite friends.

The gauntlet has hereby been thrown down, but will those who worship at the altar of lesser-evilism respond?
